Our StoryCorrelate Pty. Ltd. was founded in 2011 with the aim of developing high quality products that can enhance living.
Our vision is to make life less complicated, using familiar devices to monitor and control your Smart home, providing convenient and practical access.
Whilst as a technical design house we continue to develop products for our OEM partners to sell under their own brands, we now offer building automation products directly under the Correlate name.
The founders of Correlate built a C-Bus equipped home in the late 2000's on a very steeply sloping block in the beautiful Northern Beaches of NSW. As Craig explains,
" With nearly 40m of drop from front to rear boundary we have lots of stairs. C-Bus offered a practical way of providing 3 and 4 way switching for our stair lights. Further when you're going out you don't want to look down on the house and realise you have left lights on at the bottom".
When planning our C-Bus system were were impressed with the potential capabilities, and at the same time surprised that the available interface options were limited to wall mounted switch plates or complicated and expensive dedicated controllers. This got us thinking, surely others must also want a simple to use and easily reconfigurable control solution - and with the rising popularity of Smartphones and tablets/iPads, the touch based interface and internet connectivity would already be available.
So the concept of SmartSERVER was born.
The founding directors are a husband and wife team accumulating years of professional experience between them in both multinational and smaller organisations. With backgrounds in R&D, Engineering Operations, Accounting and Business Administration we are committed to making your dealings with Correlate an enjoyable one.
Craig grew up in Sydney and Graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree from UNSW in 1983.
I have always been interested in creating things, inspired I guess by my father who made almost all the furniture in our family home. From an early age I became interested in electronics as a hobby , and amateur (HAM) radio where you could build neat stuff and talk to someone on the other side of the world.
It's probably no surprise my first job involved satellite communications. In the years to follow I found myself leading Engineering R&D teams responsible for some leading edge developments, including an encrypted tactical radio for Australians front line solders, and later a revolutionary architecture that enabled emergency radio beacons (EPIRBs) to be produced a fraction of the historical cost.
When not working hard, I enjoy snow skiing with my family, and of course sailing our hobie cat in the beautiful backyard which is Pittwater.
Andrea, born in Chile, living in Australia for over 30 years (yes I do speak Spanish!). Graduated with a Bachelor of Economics degree from Macquarie University, majoring in Finance.
Worked for several years in a food manufacturing company, starting as a trainee accountant, while studying, and progressing to the role of Financial Accountant.
When our first daughter Nicole was born I decided to stay at home to look after the family, which grew with the birth of Kirsty. I became involved with local Playgroup, volunteering as treasurer, then zone treasurer, and finally treasurer of the NSW Playgroup Association!
When the children were in primary school I continued my involvement with classroom reading recovery and general craft, Uniform Shop and library helper.
Currently I share my time developing our business and in private enterprise.
I enjoy talking to people, trying to help where I can, I thrive in personal interaction, and I am looking forward to getting to know you.
